confused to problem- can anyone help??

just had ntl engineer out cause my connection kept dropping when it got to certain speeds, he installed a brand new modem, changed all the wiring for me and was generally very helpful.

But it didnt fix the problem and my connections keeps dropping. he says it must be a virus on the machine, has anyone encoutered any virus` that can do this and know how to look/delete them.

thanks to anybody who can help

Do you have antivirus software on your PC - if so what and is it current and the PC recently scanned?

Do you have antispyware on your PC - if so what and is it current and the PC recently scanned?

How are you connecting, ethernet or USB (the former is more reliable)?
