One part of that article in particular makes me curious.

However, Schmidt said he did view Writely as a data collection tool - so consider yourselves duly warned.
Exactly WHY does google need to know what we write?

Yeah I took note of that aswell - I suppose they know a lot of people write things that take a lot of effort in word - coursework, uni dissertations etc - Im sure they could find a few ways to use these..

Given their relationship with China, what do you expect?

The US ask them for some anonymous search statistics, they fight it, acting like they are fighting government opression. China asks them to censor websites promoting democracy, human rights, and Google complies completely and without any kinda of fight. Also, Bryn is from Russia, so I suppose old habits die hard...

I would use the service, but only for very mundane articles. Same applies to my Gmail account really. Just like talking in a crowded street, only say what you don't mind people overhearing.

Apparantly they took a year to decide to go into china with people made to argue both sides strongly. Its worth pointing out that before the results were stll censored only the results wouldnt come up at all and google was unrelibable

The same should be applied to ANY contact medium.
