Setting up new account using existing connection
HI
Just moved into house where an NTL account was already current, the previous owner moved overseas so gave me permission to use until the contract runs out which will be the 23/3 Problem is Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢ve signed up for a new account which will start on the same day the other ends, I requested a installation date which allows me to have a smooth transaction between account use, The Problem is NTL have contacted me stating your installation is now the 28/3 :Yikes: i cannot be without a connection for that length of time, (Running a business from home):bigcry: Would it not be possible to continue to use the existing Modem but access the Net with my new account, I have tried contacting customer services via email, and tried to phone but thereââ‚ƚ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s 40 people in the queue, Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m currently on 2meg Broadband, and my new account is the same 2meg BB Regards Dave |
Re: Setting up new account using existing connection
Running a business from home under the NTL ToS requires you to have an NTL Business Broadband connection.

21. Residential Use Only

The Services or any part of them cannot be sold for money or monies worth. We have no liability, whether due to our negligence or otherwise, for any losses incurred by any business, trade or profession carried on by you or any other person using the Services or the Equipment. Basically NTL will take no responsibility for losses made by you when/if the service is down |
Re: Setting up new account using existing connection
Perhaps things have gone down the wrong route,
I just basically needed to know if I could access my new account using the existing modem or do i have to wait until an engineer comes round and unplugs one modem and plugs another one in, Thanks for the Reply man:) |
Re: Setting up new account using existing connection
I'd suggest you call ntl customer services. See if they can arrange a transfer of the existing service without the engineer attendance. Realistically they probably can't do a thing until the existing account expires (I'm assuming the current account holder has given proper notice to end his contract).
make sure in any confusion caused by your contacting ntl again over this that ntl don't cancel the 28th installation date, until you know that alternative working arrangements are in place. |
Re: Setting up new account using existing connection
Yes good idea I never thought of that †œtransferÃÂà ‚¢ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ã‚¬Ã‚ƚ sounds good, yes I will have to contact CS,
The only reason I posted this query was to find out from people who no the system and how I could slipstream from one account to another without lots of hassle or is that asking a lot. No Definitely I will not cancel anything until Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m connected, Then Cancel Thanks Rob |
Re: Setting up new account using existing connection
Just to let people know how i got on,
Contacted CS, they said no its not possible to use the existing account at my present address, as Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m a new account they will have to have an engineer come round and plug me in then i can access my new account that way, so Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m not able to access the Net via the old Modem even though its the same one! Rules and regulations i love em! So looks like Iââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢m offline for about 4 days, Sugar i should have asked them to come round a week prior to the old account closing down, but thanks for all your help:) Regards Dave |
