Upload Bandwidth Problems

Hi, I'm new to the forum and hope someone can help.

Basically, I am on the 2mb Blueyonder connection which should have an Upload Bandwidth of 256k, which at times it does. But occasionally it keeps dropping to around 38k. I first came across this a few weeks ago when I kept getting disconnected when playing online with my XBOX360. So I ran a test using THIS speed test which is when I first noticed the dramatic drop with the upload bandwidth. A few hours later everything was fine. Next day it happened again so I rang Blueyonder who checked my area for any problems and also ran some tests on the modem and found no problems.
I've tried everything...rebooting modem, rebooting router, plugging PC directly into modem... all I do is wait for it to correct itself which is very frustrating.

Does anyone know what the problem could be ?

Thanks in advance.

If you're using a Motorola Surfboard modem, go to http://192.168.100.1 in your web browser, go to the Configuration tab, and change the upstream channel to something between 1 and 5, but obviously not the number it is now.

I had the exact same problem as you just 3 days ago, changed the upstream channel from 5 to 3, saved it and rebooted the surfboard, and now it's fine.

Hope this helps :)

Just posting to say thanks for the tip on changing the upload channel on my modem. It's been fine ever since... ;)
