Boot Disk Error on startup
For a while now, I've been having problems on startup on Windows XP. On the loading screen (where the blue line going across) it's either been freezing, forcing me to restart manually, or taking a long time before entering Windows. This morning, on boot up, it said "BOOT DISK ERROR, PLEASE PRESS F10 FOR RECOVERY". After initially ****ting my pants and thinking I'd lost everything, I booted in Safe Mode and that worked OK. Then I restarted, did the Last Known Good configuation, and it booted into Windows (slowly though). And here I am now, worried I'm about the lose everything on my computer. Can anyone suggest what I should do? Financially I'm not really in the position to buy a portable hard drive (my ideal solution) to copy all my files on to, but is there any real alternative?
Thanks! |
Re: Boot Disk Error on startup
Try running a full scan disk of your system and ticking the box to fix errors.

Re: Boot Disk Error on startup
Check your hard disk for errors to start with, do you have a cd burner etc you can use to get your personal files backed up?
