Upload query - azureus
Guys,
I am currently running 2mb bb and use azureus for downloading. I set my max download to 199KB I set my max upload to 20KB Firstly please can someone confirm what the upload speed is with a 2mb bb connection. The reason that i ask is a friend of mine has the same package with NTL but uses utoorent. he has set his upload speed to 60KB and has found that when his download speeds are slow his uploads go upto 60 KB sec and when his downloads speed up, his uploads slow down. I am a little confused. I was under the impression that the upload limit was 200-256KB until you went upto the 10MB package which would then give you 512KB upload. Also can someone confirm that my Azureus seetings of max download 199KB and upload 20KN is correct. |
Re: Upload query - azureus
You should never have your upload in Azureus set to 100% of your NTL upload speed. If you do this, the torrent uploads start to get in the way of the data your PC sends back to the internet to acknowledge receipt ofstuff you are downloading ('ack packets'). If the ack packets don't get back to the source of your download, the next piece of the download is delayed, hence you see your overall download speed drop.
Others will be able to advise you on the exact settings that will work best for you. ---------- Post added at 12:33 ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 ---------- :welcome: to the forum by the way. :) |
Re: Upload query - azureus
upload on 2Mb is 200Kbs - note kilo bits per second, this is roughly equivalent to between 20 & 25 Kilo bytes, per second.
Upload should be set to max 15 KB/s for 2 meg & don't worry about throttling the download. That should let you download at a reasonable rate, but still have some 'headroom' to use the computer for browsing, etc, at the same time. |
