:welcome: to the forum. The remote control should (AFAIK) not need to be configured to control the STB. Either you have been sent the wrong control, or the Reciever on the box is dead.

What Set Top Box is it?

Hmm, wierd. Well, I did say that as far as I know, it shouldn't need configuring,. Did it come with any instructions?

If not, I am sure someone else who can help will come along.

They sent you the wrong remote. It should be blue.

Pace 4100 needs the blue remote.
blue uses RC5 protocol, black uses the odd IRDA based one.

Ring ntl up in the morning and explain that you have been sent the new remote and it still does not work your stb, do not say anything about the wrong remote etc and you should get a tech visit quicker than the postie bringing you one ;)

;) In the last 2 days i have been to 2 jobs where they have sent the wrong remotes out :banghead: The best way is to say the new one is not working and they will send a engineer out and he will replace it for one that will work your stb
