Easy install wizard

I've just bought a Belkin pre-n router and the easy installation wizard claims to have you up and running in three minutes. How many of you have actually successfully done this? The first step asked me to identify my connection and gave a choice of static IP, Dynamic IP, PPTP or PPPoE. Well I think I'm not the dullest person on the earth and at least considering myself failry computer literate, but what does this mean? After not faring any better using the pdf manual I telephoned NTL and was told I had a dynamic IP. It seems to have gone smoothly since then and I am up and running. And the lady I spoke to was courteous and helpful. They should give manuals and self help discs to ordinary people to trial so the problems can be identified at an earlier stage. Now I just have to get my children's laptops to work! Is the wireless netword SSID (which I changed to something more memorable) the security I need to stop hackers? Any help gratefully received.
