Hello,

i would like to ask if anyone else is getting eror 502 "permission denied"
from the blueyonder news servers?
this used to work, but today i just get the eror message.

usually this error is a password problem. but i have never had to put a password in before.

I use blueyonder newsgroups via a program called xnews and you can get that here http://www.download.com/Xnews/3000-2164_4-10144167.html Its free I do not use a password as its not called for ..... post back if you require any more information ...

The settings used are news.blueyonder.co.uk

Re: error 502 on blueyonder newsgroups

ok tried xnews. same error message.

also tried news-text.blueyonder.co.uk (the non binaries server)
that works fine.

tried polling news.blueyonder.co.uk with telnet.
same error message (502 permission denied) and immediate disconnect.

anyone any more thoughts?

I think you maybe need to get in contact with Blueyonder and explain the problem to them also click on this site http://www.by-users.co.uk/forums/?bo...num=1109517929

Hey,

Error 502 means a proxy error, have you tried goint to

tools/internet options/connections/LAN settings

Make sure the only thing ticked is 'Automatically detect settings'

Then close IE and reopen.

Re: error 502 on blueyonder newsgroups

sounds like the authentication server is a bit screwy if it is giving 502 errors
