website advice request
i have been been using dreamweaver to build a bit of a website that i'm making for a learning centre in work. i have not yet got a host for the site and have just been building it as a local one on my pc at home so far.
what i want to do now is take it in work to let some of my work mates look at it and make any suggestions about the content and layout etc. when i open it in the browser on a different computer the main page is fine and it still finds the main image but i have some links on there that open pdf files and they are not working as the html is pointing them to a location on my pc at home. the computer i use in work does not have dreamweaver or any other web making tools on it. is there an easy way to fix this problem quickly or will i have to edit the html for every single link on my page ? i hope i have explained my problem clearly. thanks for reading and any suggestions you might have. |

Re: website advice request
dunno what the 'word processing' power of dreamweaver is like, but if it doesn't have a 'search and replace' function, then load the html into e.g. word & do it that way.
- of course you will need to know which path the pdfs are going to be physically available at... |
Re: website advice request
If the PDF's are in a folder, make sure the link is something like //folder/file.pdf and that it doesnt have the letter eg. C://folder/file.pdf

Re: website advice request
cheers for the replys m8's, as you's can probably guess this is the first webby i've attempted :)
although i think my emplyees will allow access to the main page of the site i dont think they'll let me put links on going all over the place which is why i was using pdf files, i decided to go with driver's solution and link directly to the web though just until i upload it all then i will save all the files on the web server.. thanks again though all :) |
