help with telewest box to media centre pc
 

can someone tell me how i connect my media centre pc to my telewest box it's a 4200dvb explorer box connection on pc is standard coax pc wont fid cable box
help please

Simply put it wont work.

I have just had a new PC with media centre on it and its crap. The tuner card that is in it is digital only and wont pick up analouge signals, which is what the STB outputs, so you have one choice, ditch media centre and go and buy another tv tuner which comes with some decent software, something like WINTV is good, which i am using now and it comes with a digital/analouge card so it will recieve both.

You could try downloading and installing something like power cinema, which should work with the tv tuner card that came with the PC and this might enable it to recieve the analouge signal through the card, but there is a known problem with media centre that it wont work properly with analogue signals, so you are out of luck there i am affriad.

It took me about 4 weeks and hours on the phone to the support centre to get mine working, in the end i figured it out on my own and the support centre ended up asking me what i had done to get it working and what not as they had no idea what was wrong and why it wouldnt work. Good eh.

Hi there,

I have the similiar setup.. Explorer 4200DVB to Hauppauge 150PVR for MCE.
The 150PVR is supposed to pick up the cable analogue signal. Its connected via a SCART from Explorer to s-video input on the 150PVR. I'd also tried the straight RF output from 4200 to 150PVR. For both setups, I keep getting 'No Signal' messages when I try to configure within MCE TV settings (or even direct using Hauppauge WinTV). Any clues?

It should pick it up on the s-video connection with no problems what so ever so long as you tell WIN TV to look at the correct input, ie s-vid not aerial. As for the rf not working, then i would say that it is digital only and wont pick up the analouge signal. If after playing with it wont find anything on either input source then it might be a faulty card, but i doubt it.
