Rj45 Rj11
It could be a stupid question....but
I have a dsl router (Zyxel 660HW) with 4 Rj45 Lan ports and 1 Rj11 adsl port I think this port is a Wan port but I am not sure, anyway if it is a wan port an I use an adaptor Rj45 to Rj11 and connect a cable modem to that port could it work????? |
Re: Rj45 Rj11
Nope sorry. ADSL based routers have an inbuilt ADSL modem which is incompatible with cable broadband.
Flog it on ebay and get yourself a nice Linksys broadband router. |

Otherwise it would be simpy a 'router', rather than a 'dsl router'. A cable modem, is for connecting to cable Internet. DSL is a different system, using phone lines. The two are completely different and do not mix. |
Re: Rj45 Rj11
Hang on - is this in some way connected to this thread? Have you been trying to get your Mac online with NTL via that ADSL modem? Because if you have been, that would be why it didn't work ...

Re: Rj45 Rj11
No, don't worry Chris this was the second step, I connect directly Mac to cable modem I'm not using the router.
Thank to all, I have understood, so to go wireless I have just bought an airpot base station. |
