550 Invalid Recipient

Hello,When I try to send webmail via Ntl I recieve the above error message. If I try to send to, lets say, www.channel4.com, the address line reads-www.channel4.com@ntlworld.com. This happens after I hit the send button.error reads -channel4.com@ntlworld.com was not allowed by the SMPT server:550 Invalid recipient:The @ntlworld.com is always added to any address line, hence the error. I can send myself a test with no problem.Cleared inbox, deleted all trash, still happens.Ntl cannot advise, can anyone please advise. Many thanks.

Hi,

Yes, that is correct what is happening.

According to what you have posted, you are trying to send email to www.channel4.com@ntlworl.com which is not a valid email address.

www.channel4.com is the website for channel4, and the @ntlworld.com bit is the "domain" part of people who use ntl for their email.

If you are trying to send email to someone at channel4, their email would be something like firstaname.lastname@channel4.com (or along those lines)

Re: 550 Invalid Recipient

Basically, if you do not enter a valid address (name@server.com) then webmail will 'helpfully' assume you are sending to another ntlworld username and attempt to complete the address with @ntlworld.com and since the address is not valid it will bounce back.
Basically, enter a correct email address and it will work.
