MTU setting
Can anyone tell me the recommended MTU setting for Cable please...
I'm getting major packet loss of upto 26% after only being on TS for a few seconds and then ppl break up can be really anoying in the heat of a battle... Also getting pings on BF2 on UK/Euro servers of between 25 and 40 where others are getting around 10-20 max... NTL 250 connected to Netgear RP614 router & 10 meg service, using Dr TCP to adjust MTU values and other settings.. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Hazz..... |
Re: MTU setting

MTU is set on your PC, not the modem. It should be 1500.

Re: MTU setting
After running the dsl tweak test you have to input some data i.e service provider, O/S that sort of stuff, where i get stuck is on the connection type which do i pick ethernet, WINXPpppoe, routerpppoe or normal ?.
these are the results with WINXPpppoe 1. Your Tweakable Settings: Receive Window (RWIN): 65535 Window Scaling: off Path MTU Discovery: ON RFC1323 Window Scaling: OFF RFC1323 Time Stamping: OFF Selective Acks: ON MSS requested: 1460 TTL:131 (less any hops behind firewall) TTL remaining: 120 TOS/TOS subfield: 0 TOS/Flags: 2. Re: MTU setting
put in 10000 for speed.
Just realised I have not reset mine, will post again in a while. Please note I missed a 0 off the above number |
Re: MTU setting
I'll start with the speed at 1000 and see what i get but do i enter the values of the tweakable settings in DR TCP i.e

Re: MTU setting
As to the original problem, I would assume that the problem is congestion in your area/cabinet.
Ring NTL to see if they can help with info. I hope you can get it sorted. Try my setting to see if it helps. |
