Reconfigure Linksys Router

I have just upgraded my Broadband (to 10mb from 2mb) and works fine when plugged directly into PC. However, when try to get working again through my Linksys 8 port router (BEFSR81 V2) have problems. I know there are things I have to change via the Setup but can't find the Wizard disk that did it all for me last time. Also, can't download this program from Linksys site.

Anybody any ideas what I need to re-configure or know of a download for the wizard?

MAC address?
Host?
Domain?

It might just be it needs to change IP, so connect it to your router and restart the modem. if you're on set-top you may need to provision the router, or you could try cloning the pc mac address on the router, it should be an option somewhere on the router setup pages

you shouldnt need to use hte wizard if you type your routers IP into a webbrowser and your know the password for the router you should be able to get in that way.

If you're using a cable modem, you should be able to connect up the router, power everything up again (modem first, let the lights settle, then the router, let it run diagnostics and find the NICs, then the PCs) and it should all run.

I f you have a Set Top Box, you will either have to register the router's MAC with ntl - you should be taken to the page automatically when you try try to connect; IIRC you'll need your username and password - or clone the PC's MAC to the router. Otherwise, just as for the modem.

If you've changed any settings in the router, just do a factory reset. My experience of Linksys routers is that they'll connect quite happily to ntl with no changes; it's not a wireless router, so plug in and boot should be all there is to it.

One point, though - if the Linksys BEFSR81 v2 is the same as v2 BEFSR41, the 4 port version, it only has a 10Mb WAN port, which means you won't get the full 10Mb internet connection through it.

Thanks - the factory reset solved the problem!
