Linksys Wireless works but STB drops the connection regularly
I've installed a Linksys wireless router to my NTL Box. It all works ok but the router is regularly losing the internet connection. To solve it I need to re-boot the set top box between 1 and 20 times !!! There is nothing wrong with the wireless connection to the router as this stays up and is working on DHCP. It is just that the router reckons the STB doesnt have an internet connection. However if I revert to hard wired to my PC and remove the router then I get permanent connection..
Anyone have any ideas what this may be? I can configure firewalls etc but haven't touched this out of the box. The securoty is WEP although this should not affect the part between the router and the STB I removed it temporarily anyway - but it didn't help. I am thikning of taking the kit back and getting something else. Hope someone can help. Michael |
Re: Linksys Wireless works but STB drops the connection regularly
If your router is the WRT54G, it's a known problem and it drove me mad a couple of months ago. Linksys technical help is pretty good and if you don't have the latest firmware then that is the place to start (it worked for me). Find it at http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper.
There is also some advice in the Linksys technical help (start at http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...wers.search_nl) and a search on the Linksys forum (also at the Linksys site) will find dozens of mails. Good luck! |

The Router is actually the HR200-TS. I'll have a look at the links anyway.
Thanks for that..........Michael |
