http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=94784 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=78215 also she would like to conect her printer without wires how can this be done with the above router and many thanks in advance |
Re: wireless network help ?
Don't think you need the whole linksys networking kit. The lappy looks like it is wireless enabled with the adaptor already in the hardware. Thus you just need the router, not the PCMIA card.
As for printer, what type does she have. In particular what connections are on it - any network port, or is it just USB, parrallel port? Once you know that you can determine how or if it can be connected to a network / router without direct connection to a PC. |

also i have not yet picked a printer any ideas ? thanks again rob |
Re: wireless network help ?
Yep that router is fine, although the Speedstep bit is overkill - the lappy will probably not be able to take advantage of it.

Re: wireless network help ?
Nope the laptop already has a wireless adaptor built into it.
---------- Post added at 20:25 ---------- Previous post was at 20:20 ---------- Regarding connection of the printer. There are a number of ways of doing it. You can get a separate, standalone print server adaptor for the printer - versions come with USB or parallel connections, and they can be ethernet (for wired connection to the router) or wireless. You can however be more sophisticated and get a combined wireless router with printer port. I can't find one by Linksys, but D-link do something like this http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=274 Not having used this I personally cannot say if it's any good or not. |
