outgoing messages
Hi. I've just joined the forum so this question may well have been answered many times in the past. However here goes.
I had a problem in that none of my sent mail messages were automatically being saved as they were in aol which I've just changed from. It seems for every message you must opt to save a message in the sent messages folder else it doesn't. Is there any way I can make ntlworld mail default to saving every composed message? |
Re: outgoing messages
How are you sending the email? Through the web interface or through software? Each will have an option which will save sent mail when set correctly.

Re: outgoing messages
Hi :welcome:
- which e-mail client are you using? - In Outlook Express the option is tools/options/send/ then tick the button "save copies of sent messages in the sent folder" |
Re: outgoing messages
All I ever used previously was aol or hotmail. Then when I signed onto NTL I use their e-mail system which appears to be ntl e-mail. Have I missed something?:dozey:

Re: outgoing messages
Thanks for the advice.
It looks like OE or the "generic ntlworld ISP settings available to ntl Broadband customers". As I have deleted OE some time back I guess I can re-install it and use it's functionality to have more control. Or maybe just tick the box on the e-mail messages I want to keep. At least I've made a start and thanks for your replies. |
Re: outgoing messages
It's unlikely that you've deleted Outlook Express, simply the link to it, bagpiperay.
However, if you want an email client that a lot of people find superior, more configurable (through extensions and themes, and also in its basic configuration if you're up to that) and more secure than Outlook Express, you could try Mozilla Thunderbird. It's free and open-source. You could also try the companion browser, Firefox, which is simarly favoured by many people. Myself among them , of course! ;-) |

I think I am preferring Firefox because of the tabbing which is a lot less bother than favourites in IE. So I have now downloaded Thunderbird and I'll probably give it a try. Cannot do any harm and it might be good especially if it's compatible with Firefox. |
Re: outgoing messages
With ntl webmail you need to tick the save option for every outgoing message. Annoying, but true.

Re: outgoing messages
Thanks for that. I'd pretty much worked that out through looking at all the options. I just thought there might have been a plug-in which dealt with that little issue.
A bigger one for me, in transferring from AOL is the incompatability it has with just about everything. I had to save all my favourites onto windows explorer. Then I find Firefox only imports single files or drag and drop and not complete folders. Since I've got hundreds of them it's going to take me some time. |
