Problem recieving e mail from wanadoo.
 

Hi there :)

My wife who uses NTL has a brother living in France.

He is using the provider wanadoo.He recieves her e mails no problem...but she never gets his replies or any e mails he writes.

Both parties have phoned their respective IP's to try and resolve this issue but apparently wanadoo say that NTL are blocking their mails while NTL claim that wanadoo is to blame.

Seeing as her brother recieves her mail but not the other way around sounds to me like it is a problem at NTL's end of the line.

Can anybody advise on how to resolve this please?

You need to search the forum, G.B.H. - there's plenty here on this. ;-)

As for solutions, though... I'd say the best one is that you're better off with a mail service that is not tied to your ISP. An ISP will never provide you with the optimum mail service - and if you ever want to make a move from your ISP, you'll have the hassle of changing all your email addresses. Yes, you can often keep them, but it's more of a headache than having a stand-alone service - and you never know how long you'll keep them...

one suggestion for your search, G.B.H. is 'sorbs' - this is the blacklist database that Wannadoo are on. Basically NTL block mail from anyone appearing on the list, but have no control over who is there. ;)

You use a spam killer at all, these are normally the culprits for not letting emails through their filters?

A freind of mine is using wanadoo web based email at the moment while she is in Nicaragua. However, it seems incredibly intermittent as to whether we get emails from her or not via NTL.

Could this be related to problems like the above? I don't really follow all this checking I.P address stuff. All I know is we don't get emails and I have no idea how we can resolve it other than her having to mess around setting up a new email account which is ridiculous when it's her primary email address and is used for all her correspondence.

Do you mean Wanadoo France or Wanadoo UK?
According to senderbase, Wanadoo UK have three MTAs and two of these are blacklisted, so on average one in three emails should get through.

Would Wanadoo not be better stopping the sending of spam from there email system. Then they might not get blocked by anti spam systems. It,s fine that they have a work around to circumnavigate the spam filters. But that does not fix the problem.
