Poor analogue tv picture.
A couple of months back our digital set top box packed in. I contacted NTL and they exchanged the box. Since then the picture on BBC2 (analogue) has been very poor with wavy lines going across the screen. I thought it may have been something to do with my home made splitter taking the picture to another room, I removed this but it has made no difference. I contacted NTL who checked the STB and said that there was no fault showing there and there must be some fault with the set up. We ordered a second STB for the other room and when the engineer called to install that we asked him to have a look at the first box. He checked and removed an adaptor to one of the connections and this seemed to clear up the problem. Later we found that the problem was still there. The funny thing is if we record a programme on the VCR and play that back the picture is perfect. Anybody have any suggestions? There is no problem with the picture on any programme with the second box.

Re: Poor analogue tv picture.
Check the RF leads. The NTL frequencies are slightly off center & need to be fine tuned. If the lines are diagonal (called herringboneing) its caused by interfearance from another source getting in by a bad lead or connection (co-channel interfearance)
If it's only on the frist box, check the connections & the leads.Thats a 90% chance thats the cause. Spike |

Thank you Spike7451. I will try that at the first opportunity.

Re: Poor analogue tv picture.
Success!!!! I had another go at the cables and found a dodgy plug on the cable from the VCR to the television. I tidied it up and the picture is now very good.
Thank you again. |
