:welcome: to Cable Forum :D
Simplest way is to unplug the power at the wall, leave off for 30 seconds or so, plug back in let all the lights settle down, and then power on the router instead of the PC. Only the rotuer, not the PC must now be connected to the modem |

Re: ntl:100 modem help
The modem can only "see" one device connected to it at a time. Unless the modem is reset, it will normally remember the last device connected to it that it used to speak to and won't become aware of anything else.
Resetting clears that memory, and tells the modem to look for something new to speak to. Remember that only one thing should be directly connected to the modem, so if you were using USB to connect the PC, disconnect the USB leads connecting to the modem, before you connect the router via ethernet. |

Re: ntl:100 modem help
What is the make / model of the router. Many have a reset button - worth trying that to ensure you are on manufacturer settings.
Unplug and disconnect everything. Now connect the router ethernet to the modem connect the router to PC#1 connect the router to laptop power on the modem, give that 5 minutes to settle power on the router, give that a couple of minutes power on PC#1 & laptop Both PC and laptop should automatically get an IP from the router. If not check the network connections settings on your PC or laptop to see that TCP/IP connection is set to automatic. |

Re: ntl:100 modem help
Hmm, I see no reason why it shouldn't be working. Have you verified that the cables are OK?
