webspace full.....help!!

I am having probs deleting old files on my ntl web space. Using contribute3, have deleted files and created a new page, but files are still being held on the server, hence eating up the space. Help / advice anyone??:dunce:

Try using filezilla to delete the files (Its FTP SW)

or you could try smartftp www.smartftp.com

Its free for personal use.

having used them both i prefer smartftp which works better with drag and drop for me. i also like the smartftp ui more than filezilla

saying that filezilla is a great little program though.

I quite like the fireftp extension for Firefox, it is very useful for quick access to my webspace, from within the browser.

It lacks features, compared to the likes of Filezilla, though.

I'm a bit puzzled by the concept of deleting files from NTL webspace, that still occupy space on the server - is this a kind of 'trashcan' facility from Contribute3?

Overall, the consensus seems to be, that an FTP program is best for direct manipulation of your webspace, it just remains for you to choose which one - then you can really empty the trash ;)

Maybe it just me being a novice at this! or a :dunce: . You get 55mb space, I've tinkered with it over the last few months, changing pages, uploading funnies for mates to view. As i changed it I thought it was deleting the old files. turns out it wasn't. now when i really need to upload a 25mb file, it says not enough space. And for the life of me I cant delete anything. Am set up as an admin in contribute....just wont delete. Sorry homealone for not being clear....any help is appreciated!!

no need to be sorry, an 'expert' in my book is someone who got to make all the mistakes, first ;)

I'd advise trying one of the recommended FTP programs, your webspace can look quite different when viewed this way :)
