uncapped connections

right im confused about this, so NTL are going to be giving these out in January.
so i take it as im on a 1mb conection i will be upgraded to uncapped? (bromley, kent) i take it the price will still be the same
But what happens when 10mb is released are we offered the choice to upgrade or what?
Also what happens to the price of my 1mb when 10mb is released?

Your guess is as good as any one elses. They may be offering both - 1 and 2m uncapped, or 10m with various levels of caps.

Yes 1 and 2 Mb will have their download cap removed from January 06.

I assume everyone that's not on 10Mb next year will get the choice to upgrade when it becomes available.

The news report

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/...mited-jan-2006

is confusing - is this the plan to up all conections to 10Mb now on hold? Could the insider with the info please clarify!

I'm not an insider, but I have spent the last year or so reporting on this stuff (now a job that's finally over..).

Simply, 1 and 2Mbps customers will obviously have the option to upgrade to 10Mbps at some stage. Whether this'll be an opt-in or opt-out process, no one knows.

As it stands, 1 and 2Mbps customers - it would certainly seem - will get an unlimited connection on those speeds until the time comes for it to be viable to up their speed to 10Mbps comes.

(My personal opinion is that during 2006, 1 and 2Mbps customers will get the option to opt-out of an upgrade to 10Mbps - when it becomes viable - and remain unlimited or go onto the 10Mbps and be capped according to which tier they're on: £17.99 or £24.99. But that's speculative, NTL haven't announced this will be the case - it's just based on their past activities.)

Shows lack of communication within a large organisation, that always seems to be the first thing that goes out of the window when an organisation reaches a certain size.

The email apparently links to:-

1Mb users
2Mb users
3-10Mb users
56k users

so I still wonder whether its a change from upgrading everone to 10Mbps with caps?

I was sent the 2Mb email today...despite being a 3Mb customer for the last 3 months!
