Problems with manchesterairport.co.uk web site
Hi
I have had this problem for awhile If i go to www.manchesterairport.co.uk and click on the real time arrival departures on the top right I get a 404 page not found. It tries to link to http://uk.sitestat.com/manairport/ma...s_type=clickin However, when I try on another connection i.e. at work it works. The page links to the same page (http://uk.sitestat.com/manairport/ma...s_type=clickin) BUT it then forwards to http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/a...valsDepartures which works fine. If i enter http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/a...valsDepartures into the browser on my NTL connection it works fine. Anyone else have this problem??? Thanks |

Re: Problems with manchesterairport.co.uk web site
May well be a proxy problem, asy1mpo. Ntl usually put you on a transparent proxy for HTTP browsing, and these will sometimes go wrong... go wrong... go wrong... You can change the proxy you're on (including to non-ntl proxies) but, if ntl have assigned you a proxy, you can't access without one.
Scroll up to the top of this page and click 'Connection' to find out whether you're on a proxy and, if so, which one. For more detailed information, i.e. the exact name of the proxy you're on, either ping -a the given IP of your proxy, or go to All Net Tools, scroll down to the 'Proxy Test' and click the 'Check' button. See the Forum articles on proxies. Have a read of 'How do I manually specify a proxy?' and then go to 'List of NTL Proxy Servers (New Format)' and try one or two. Alternatively, to change proxy in Firefox, go to Tools > Options... > General. Then click the Connection Settings... button. Now select Manual Proxy Selection and (copy and paste is the best way to do this) enter the address of the proxy you want to use in the HTTP Proxy: box _only_, and type 8080 into the Port: box. Click OK and OK and you're done. If you want to get slick and change proxies on the fly (in Firefox), go to the SwitchProxy Tool page at mozilla.org and install this useful extension. Reboot FF and you'll have a new toolbar (you can select different ways of accessing the extension, toolbar or otherwise). Click the Add button. Select Standard and click Next - now you enter the proxy details just as above, but this time remember to enter a name as well. You can enter as many proxies as you like this way. Each time you enter a proxy, the name will appear in the Proxy: drop down box list when you click the arrow: you can select the proxy you want, click the Apply button and that's it! Oh, and reselect Direct connection to the internet if you selected a proxy in FF's Tools > Options... > Connection Settings... The extension doesn't seem to work otherwise. If you need advice on changing proxy in a browser other than IE or Firefox, post back here - I'm sure someone can oblige. |
