My New Provider

Is HomeChoice http://www.homechoice.co.uk

After a minor hitch at the start speeds are good:

Code:

Downstream        7126 Kbps (890.8 KB/sec)        7696 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream        490 Kbps (61.3 KB/sec)        529 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Pings are also very good:

Pinging www.jolt.co.uk [82.133.85.65] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=49
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=49
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=49
Reply from 82.133.85.65: bytes=32 time=7ms TTL=49

Pleased so far, speeds consistent throughout yesterday and no trace of instability that you can see with ADSL.

Not too shabby for £30/month along with basic TV over DSL and VOD package :)

Picture quality on TV is excellent too!

Roll on ADSL2+ :)

I've always wondered with homechoice, is the TV bandwidth shared with the internet connection, or are they both seperate? I mean, for example, if you're downloading something big would the picture break up on the TV?

The bandwidth is shared, however the TV will never be affected by the internet, the internet bandwidth is taken (if required) and nailed up for use in the TV stream.

TV can affect internet though. I synch up pretty high as I'm nice and close to exchange and not seeing any real impact.

How much bandwidth does the TV take up then?
