For starters post your current setup that'll help others instead of shooting in the dark.

Re: Too slow!
I meant whether you are using SACM (Stand Alone Cable Modem) or STB how you are connecting to the modem via USB or ethernet.

Re: Too slow!
Can you post the results of the speed test on the the following site?
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/ Oh, and :welcome: to the site boobah ;) |
Re: Too slow!
Just to ask the obvious. are you sure your not getting bits and Bytes mixed up?
Only asking because 15k Bytes = 120k bits. |
Re: Too slow!
No, richgm, if he's on the 1Megabit service, he should be getting around 120KiloByte/second downloads. Connection speeds are usually measured in bits, download speeds in Bytes.
boobah, what/where from are you trying to download? Download speeds can be considerably affected by net conditions and the speed of the server you're trying to download from. That's why danielf asked you to try Robin Walker's speed test: it's on the ntl network, so should give a test in fairly ideal conditions. |
