email not arriving

I forward emails to me from my own domain to my
NTL email address
i have not recieved any for a few days
Domain hosting Co says they are being rejected by NTL
NTL says my email is fine
i can recieve and send no problem and get all mail straight to my NTL address
but not the forwarded stuff
Now NTL are saying the Domain co are sending it to the wrong relay
below is the error they are getting

Dec 14 14:29:48 mx6.daemonmail.net postfix/smtp[33649]: C082F1C7EE:
> to=<mikegray@ntlwor66ld.com>, orig_to=<mike@gra66yy.com>,
> relay=smtpin.ntlworld.com[81.103.221.10], delay=253485, status=deferred
> (host smtpin.ntlworld.com[81.103.221.10] said: 452 Message rejected (in
> reply to end of DATA command))

they say it should be smtp.ntlworld.com
where does this info come from and can i find it and check it myself
mail from my hotmails account is now reporting an error saying it has been delayed

ant help would be very apprieciated

Re: email not arriving

I suggest you edit your email address out of the post, before the bots get it :D

Re: email not arriving

Could you not just pop download your emails straight to your email program negating the need to use ntl?

Thats how I do it I have several email accounts that outlook checks.

Re: email not arriving

i have set up a hotmail account to forward them to
this works ?

i now cant send anything from my hotmail account to my NTL address
IF NTL have a fault they should fix it not blame others

I might be missing other emails to my NTL account anyway

smtpin.ntlworld.com is correct for external mail - smtp.ntlworld.com is used for sending mail from ntl.

ntlworld.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = smtpin.ntlworld.com

Error 452 is ntl's standard rejection message, normally due to the remote MTA being blacklisted.

The server specified above, mx6.daemonmail.net, is currently on two different blacklists:

The IP address of smtp.ntlworld.com is black listed by APEWS.org - I found that by putting the look-up IP address of smtp.ntlworld.com into www.dnsstuff.com Spam Database Lookup.

If you aren't angry enough by having the plug pulled on your main form of communication, APEWS.org won't deal with end users to white list smtp.ntlworld.com and instruct you to go via your ISP (NTL/Virgin Media in our case who don't think there's anything wrong!! FFS)

Quite why this APEWS group of people think we need yet another spam black list is beyond me as they are just creating new Spam problems for legitimate businesses/individuals rather than solving them.

My next move is to locate a reputable email provider who is not black listed anywhere and operates in a manner to prevent black listing and has a feasable plan in place should they or any of their customers get black listed.

Hope this helps others who are unfairly suffering Spam black listings.

VM bounced my mails recently and it appears a full inbox isn't the problem. The mail service was allways poor though.

How come yahoo isn't blacklisted when I get a crapload from there.

What about a Gmail account?

APEWS are considered a joke in the ISP community, as thier lists block a hell of a lot of legitimate email. ISP's who find their customers are blocked from sending emails to companies that use that service can either get their servers white listed with the company, or threaten the company with a block against their network.

More and more companies that used APEWS are turning to more reputable lists because of the backlash they are getting.

If anyone remembers SPEWS, you'll know exactly what I mean. :)

No error 452 often indicates that there is a mismatch between the X-SENDER and X_ENVELOPE address, errors in the 55 range usually means a block on the MTA.

If you are getting regular 452 errors, make sure your reply to address matches yourr sender address when using smtp.ntlworld.com.

In other words, if you are connected to the VM network, and you are a former ntl user, make sure that your smtp server is set to smtp.ntlworld.com (smpt.ntlworld.com also works), and make sure that the senders email address matches the reply to address.

That should rid you of the 452 error.
