I suggest you edit your email address out of the post, before the bots get it :D

Re: email not arriving
Could you not just pop download your emails straight to your email program negating the need to use ntl?
Thats how I do it I have several email accounts that outlook checks. |

Re: email not arriving
smtpin.ntlworld.com is correct for external mail - smtp.ntlworld.com is used for sending mail from ntl.
ntlworld.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = smtpin.ntlworld.com Error 452 is ntl's standard rejection message, normally due to the remote MTA being blacklisted. The server specified above, mx6.daemonmail.net, is currently on two different blacklists: http://www.senderbase.org/search?sea...216.104.160.36 |
Re: email not arriving
The IP address of smtp.ntlworld.com is black listed by APEWS.org - I found that by putting the look-up IP address of smtp.ntlworld.com into www.dnsstuff.com Spam Database Lookup.
If you aren't angry enough by having the plug pulled on your main form of communication, APEWS.org won't deal with end users to white list smtp.ntlworld.com and instruct you to go via your ISP (NTL/Virgin Media in our case who don't think there's anything wrong!! FFS) Quite why this APEWS group of people think we need yet another spam black list is beyond me as they are just creating new Spam problems for legitimate businesses/individuals rather than solving them. My next move is to locate a reputable email provider who is not black listed anywhere and operates in a manner to prevent black listing and has a feasable plan in place should they or any of their customers get black listed. Hope this helps others who are unfairly suffering Spam black listings. |

More and more companies that used APEWS are turning to more reputable lists because of the backlash they are getting. If anyone remembers SPEWS, you'll know exactly what I mean. :) ---------- Post added at 17:35 ---------- Previous post was at 17:32 ---------- Quote:
If you are getting regular 452 errors, make sure your reply to address matches yourr sender address when using smtp.ntlworld.com. In other words, if you are connected to the VM network, and you are a former ntl user, make sure that your smtp server is set to smtp.ntlworld.com (smpt.ntlworld.com also works), and make sure that the senders email address matches the reply to address. That should rid you of the 452 error. |
