Peak times?
 

Hi and this is my first post on the site so welcome me :)

Anyways back to the problem. Been with TW for about 2 years now and for the past year or so was with 1mb which was freely upgraded to 2mb when the new better lines came into place.

Got another free trial 10mb upgrade for the past month or so which is meant to last up until about early 2006 according to their email however as soon as the time gets to about 4 o'clock the ping just seems to bet getting worse and worse.
I can be playing cs:s with a ping of about 20-30 and then come 4 it shoots to 140 which is more or less unplayable. When the time hits midnight, back to normal.

Is this normal or is it something that tw should be contacted about as i dont want to be phoning and being told all the usual nonsence 'turn off the modem' crap that i had with problems before.

I can't say whether what you are experiencing is normal or abnornmal. However it's certainly not good.

Moving you to the 10meg service has placed you into a different tier of users. Inevitably more use of the net is made at peak times (when the schoolkids get home, etc). As all broadband, cable and ADSL is to some extent contended, other users use will impact on you.

Simple answer, you are on a trial. If the service don't work for you at the trial level, phone Telewest and ask to be downgraded, saying you don't want the trial or upgrade - you can tell them why. At least you save the upgraded service cost for the future.
