I hope it's not just a momentary blip...
But today I noted a marked improvement to throughput when downloading from sites in the US.
For weeks 80 - 200kbps has been the best I could manage but today I was getting 900 - 1500kbps. I'm still on 3meg and in Nothants BTW and this was at 6.00pm. Anybody else seen an improvement? Strangely Tracerts seem to look exactly the same as they usually do, at least to my somewhat inexpert eye. |

lol 3meg customers are getting a free upgrade to 10mb. Looks like this could be finished roll out by 5 dec.

My original post referred to slow throughput from US sites due to apparent congestion through Ntl's proxies and the pipe/router in Amsterdam on the download route and the apparent congestion in the US on the ack route. I merely noted the situation had improved as I described. After the 10meg upgrade downloads (per slot) are still at 900 - 1500Kbps so it seems to be a sustained improvement but is still extremely poor. Further traces seem to show there is now no packet loss on the ack route but on the download route are still showing 10% packet loss on the last hop and 10% packet loss through the proxy. |

dont know about the us situation but amsterdam is still congested here.

Groan...seems it was just a 48 hour blip.
All back to crappy normal today. US throughput back down to 200kbps, average download down to 4.5mbps. Will it ever get sorted??? Last time I bailed out and went DSL it was no better. |
Re: I hope it's not just a momentary blip...
I think its possible that ntl were trialling something to improve the situation and the fact you seen the improvement for 48 hours is good news rather then bad.
