Unable to access Hotmail email accounts
 

Using a Telewest broadband connection I am unable to access hotmail email accounts; it just times out and I get page cannot be displayed.
These accounts CAN be accessed from other Internet connections such as using a Vodafone 3G Data Card from the same computer. This implies a Telewest Broadband problem from the B'ham area. Any ideas?

Tried changing proxys? Sometimes it's a proxy issue causing the page to fail to load.

using MSN Premium to access hotmail email accounts results in error
'Why this happened
Error code: 0x80072efd

using www.hotmail.com to access email accounts returns the catch all error

The page cannot be displayed


Using non Telewest Internet connection works ok in both cases. It points to a Telewest problem.

Did you try a different set of proxys though? It could be the one you are using is not functioning correctly.

hmm - i've been trying to send emails to 3 different hotmail addresses, and no joy - they all bounced after 4 hours:

actually i can't even ping hotmail - just gets timeouts

i think that suggests that hotmail is having a problem??

Not necessarily, it also suggests that the hotmail server dooes not respond to pings - tried pinging www.microsoft.com recently?

I have not tried a different set of proxys ....how do you do that ? Using the same computer on different ISP's is ok but the Telewest Broadband connection is still not replying to hotmail requests. This still seems to imply a Telewest<-> Hotmail problem, maybe one of the servers on route is not relaying ?

hotmail is working on ntl so does seem to be a routing problem.
