Quick question
A friend of mine has just been told by tech support that he needs to install an english version of windows XP (he currently has a polish version installed) in order to connect his cable modem. At the moment i believe he is trying to connect via USB so I think this could be the issue.
If he can connect via ethernet would this solve the issue ???? I can't see how having a polish edition of windows XP can cause such a problem, but maybe i'm wrong  Has he been fobbed off or not ??? TIA |
Re: Quick question
dont think its a case of broadband not working on foreign versions of xp... just that ntl wouldnt support it. should work on both... if u want to use usb, just have the broadband installer disk in the drive...dont run through the install process....plug in the usb lead...and xp should auto install the drivers....then go to the registration site. alternatly...just plug in the ethernet cable and go straight to reg

Re: Quick question
Indeed...when I was there, I remember a customer being told that by tech support when he had a Spanish version...we did a manual registration and it worked fine.
Just an excuse not to assist I'm afraid. |
