problems with modem
Guys,
need some help here...got a strange problem with my modem, I'm connected via a router (belkin F5D7231 connected wired) but thats not the problem. the problem at the moment is that my modem is I think trapped in a reboot cyclus and doesnt get out. The way that I'm testing this is doing a ping 192.168.100.1 -t -w 10 to the modem and I only get time-outs, at the same time I'm doing this to google.com (66.102.9.99) and most of those are time-outs then I get roughly 4 replies from my router dest net unreachable then I ping again fine. I've already unplugged the router and connected directly but same thing happens, rebooted modem 2x now and still not a stable connection. Also checked the ntl service page no faults in the Kettering area. Another helpful hint is that I've upgraded my line from 2 to 10 but hadnt had any problems so far. HELP PLEASE !!! as this is driving me mad at the moment looking at a dos screen to see when I get answers from google.com and then have to press SUBMIT pretty fast. EDIT: my connection is on for roughly 1 to 2 mins then off again then back 1 min later if lucky even with router unplugged :( EDIT2: Signal levels: Downstream Receive Power Level : 0.53 dBmv Downstream SNR : 32.93 dB Upstream Transmit Power Level : 51.00 dBmv |

Re: problems with modem
I wouldn't rely on the status page too much, I have had connection problems starting late afternoon today. Currently only receiving 5meg (was 10) and every so often the ready light will go out. I would presume that there is a lot more work going on than is listed.

hmm let it ping all night and this was the result: Ping statistics for 66.102.9.99: Packets: Sent = 25184, Received = 12058, Lost = 13126 (52% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 28ms, Maximum = 197ms, Average = 31ms find the lost a bit annoying tho :( |

Re: problems with modem
I can only suggest try turning of the modem for longer than 2 min (I did read 30mins on another thread)

Re: problems with modem
David, I've had it switched off for about 2 hrs but still the same problems, doing a ping now to my wan ip from work continually and last results are 57% lost....think I'll just have to contact ntl bout this now :(
