Can't access NTL webspace (FTP server) anymore
Hi there!
I need your help. Until recently I had no problems accessing our NTL webspace via FTP using the following data: server: upload.ntlworld.com port: 21 username: our NTL username password: our NTL password A week or two ago it suddenly stopped working. I now get the following error message: IO Error: Unexpected null reply received I get the same error if I use the standard browser upload. All our files are still on the webspace and our website at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ourNTLusername/ is working fine. I simply can't access it anymore to upload/download files. I tried other FTP software and other computers, but no luck. Can anyone help? Many thanks. R.A |

Have you tried ringing CS to see if there is a problem with your webspace?

sounds like the webspace may be borked... best thing to do may be to make sure you have backups of everything on there, and then contact ntl tech support who can reset the webspace.

I haven't spoken to CS yet. I guess I should call them tomorrow during office hours.

Re: Can't access NTL webspace (FTP server) anymore
It's not the line, it's the fact that your IP address is not in one of the ntl ranges.
Most ISPs restrict FTP access this way to prevent abuse.. otherwise e.g. some porn site owner could sign up for a bunch of PAYG internet accounts using fake details to store dodgy pictures for free. Would also stop customers 'renting' space for similar purposes. |
