Wireless Connection

I've recently bought a lynksys WRT54G broadband router and it works fine hardwired to my desktop using blueyonder bb. The problem i have is with my wife's sony viao laptop. The laptop immediately connects to the router using WAP protocol but it will not let me access the net or e-mail. My wife is a teacher and the laptop belongs to her school where she connects to the server wirelessly. Could the problem be with the way the laptob has been setup?

I'm sure NEONKNIGHT will be here soon to advise, he's got one of these himself, and I'm buying one on his recommendation.

Over to you NEONKNIGHT!

Can the router see the laptop?

Re: Wireless Connection

yeah no problem. it connects no problem at all, I think there is something set on the laptop which is not allowing a connection to the net.

Does the laptop tell you that its connected? Or say that there is a limited connection?

Have you assigned a key and put it in on the laptop?

I had a simliar sort of problem, and I went to:

Control panel>network connections>!rightclick! wirelessconnections>properties>wireless networks tab

Then removed all of the items in the preferred network list, and selected ok.

I was able to connect after doing this twice, and I've had no problems since.

Excellent router, never dropped out yet.
