Have you removed the USB lead and rebooted the modem after installing the ethernet lead?

Hi welcome to the site.
is your ethernet port turned on in bios, some PCs come with them off.

:welcome:

If you are going to use a wireless router, you do not need to connect the ethernet port of the modem to your pc.

If you have the router already, connect modem -> router-> pc(s), and remember to *always* reboot the cable modem when changing devices that are connected to it.

Is the ethernet NIC in Network Connections set to automatically acquire IP address?
