Using F splitter
Hi I am new to this forum - so Hi!
I have the following query. I am currently not subscribing to Telewest, but am thinking of doing so in the near future (subject to Landlords approval). Currently, i am using an indoor aerial for TV reception and the picture is dire!!! I have an outdoor roof aerial, but this is broken and the TV picture is even worse!! I my previous place, i had a similar issue, but there was a disused telewest connection that i connected straight to the back of the TV. this allowed me to get Terristrial TV with excellent TV (also ITV2). This was without any box etc - this was just to get a good signal. I am thinking of trying to do the same thing again, but Telewest is not installed in my flat. However, the neighbours upstairs have it connected on my outside wall. i was thinking, is it possible to use a f-splitter on their junction box and then use a lead to connect to my Tv?? I am not stealing cable - but just want to make use of the signal as well? Is there any legal problems with this?? Also, will it affect the quality of their Tv if i split the connection into mine? thanks M |

But Tampering with the external wall box on a neighbour's house is illegal because it's Telewest's property. So I wouldn't if I were you. :welcome: to the forum by the way. :) |
Re: Using F splitter
Thanks - i suspected so.
this is annotying as i can see this as my best/only option. The landlord keeps shaking his head when i ask about getting it installed, as it ivolves drilling holes in his precious paint work!! The roof aerial has blown down, and the landlord has no inclination of fixing it - as nobody uses them. My only other option is to get Sky as that is already wired in - minus the dish on the roof and box!! but i fear this will cost loads to sort out. |

Re: Using F splitter
If sky is already wired in with no dish and no box all you have is some coax. Why not install cable and use the hole in the wall the coax will leave if you pull it out ;) sorted no paintwork damage happy landlord ;)
