ERR 1 displaying on set top box
 

Hi there,
Does anyone know why my set top box is displaying an ERR 1 message & what I can do to get rid of it? It started yesterday when the box switched from normal to running through all the numbers really quickly. Then it showed --:-- then ERR 1. Now if I leave it switched off for a while it sometimes works fine for about 15mins then all of a sudden goes back to ERR 1 again.
I've tried all the usual things to fix it myself but no luck. Telewest helpline can't get an engineer out until Tuesday....I need my telly!!!
Any help at all would be fantastic.

Sounds like TW have sent a software update to the box (all the numbers in succession) and it has failed to install properly.

What to do, call TW CS and tell them.

Get the Scrabble out, learn how to Sudoko, rent some DVDs - you don't need your telly, you need air and food, you want your telly.

Thanks for the advice. Its good to have an idea of what is going on. Have called TW CS & they were unhelpful to say the least.

Ho Hum. Good excuse to spend the weekend at the pictures :-)

Call them again in the hope you get a different staff member who might be more helpful ;)

err 1 - i had this error and called customer support , basically box has overheated and memory has gone " kaput " - result new box required !

so get back onto phone and demand replacement !
