Internet Camera Firms
I'm after a new digital camera and, after a bit of research, I've more or less decided on the Canon Digital Ixus 50. Jessops charge about £250 but it is available much more cheaply on the Internet. However, checking around gives me some concern about spending so much with firms whose customer care is likely to be less than perfect.
Pixmania looked a possibility about £210. I wasn't too worried about the manual in French or the continental mains plug, but googling on +pixmania +problems is enough to make you avoid them like the plague. Dabs were equally cheap but searching on this forum suggests that we have yet another firm that, when things go OK, is very good but, when you have problems, often don't want to know. If I'm going to spend this much, I really would like to deal with a firm that has some concept of customer care. So, any suggestions for a decent Internet firm that deals in cameras; it needn't be rock bottom prices, just reasonably cheaper than the High Street. |

They will price match the other companies price plus delivery which seems fair to me |
Re: Internet Camera Firms
Pixmania are OK, unless something goes wrong (kinda like all e-tailers, I guess). I was OK when I bought a DVD player from them, although the delivery was shockingly long as it went from France, to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and finally the UK :shocking: However, a friend bought a Sony digital camera from them and needed to send it back, which proved very frustrating and expensive for him.
Personally, I can recommend a site called Digital Depot (www.digital-depot.co.uk) - they've also got a bricks & mortar store here in Swindon where you get better deals than online if you can haggle ;) They've got your camera for £239 incl VAT. |

Re: Internet Camera Firms
I got my Canon Eos from Amazon, and found their prices quite competive (on a par with pixmania et al.)
Amazon don't stock the Ixus 50 anymore, but do its successor (the Ixus 55) for £223, with free delivery. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...069867-6566834 |
Re: Internet Camera Firms
There's a site based in Jersey called something like 7 Day Shop, which has very cheap cameras on it. Not recommending them, it's just that I remember them being the cheapest around a while ago (something to do with VAT or import duty.... can't remember the details.)

As for net firms, I bought my Nikon D70s from Easygadget. I was a little miffed at a delay in delivery because they said they had it in stock when they didn't but apart from that I didn't have any problems. |
