Amazon Used Items

Just wondering what peoples experiences of these are. Theres quite a lot of books that I'll be needing for my course, and most of them are in the £50 price bracket, too dear for my pockets. The used items are for 1/5th of that, but I wonder whether theres negative points such as the seller doesn't provide the book.

You are covered by the same regulations as buying from Amazon itself....so no need to worry.

What i would do is make sure that they are not selling older editions of books, it might be ok to buy one earlier edition but certainly not a couple. I suppose it depends on your course !

I usualy check the ratings and feedback of a seller. I've bought second hand through Amazon many times and thankfully never been disappointed.

I agree with aliferste though - check its the edition you want

You shouldnt haveany problems with amazon sellers as they have to offer a reliable service otherwise they are chucked off amazon.
Just check their feedback and post andpackaging rates and you should be fine.

Also, the money goes only to Amazon and then they pass it accross to the seller. So dont worry about your card details going to some unknown seller.

Thanks :)

Some more questions hope you don't mind.

This is one of the books I will be hoping to get.

How do I check its the latest edition?

I take it the ratings of the users are the ratings "5.0 stars over the past twelve months (1 rating) Seller has 1 lifetime rating" - ideally a high star value and a high number of ratings rather than one rating at 5 star for example?.

Where do I find P+P info?

Whats the amazon payments about? Does it effect me?

Many thanks.

P & P is charged at a standard rate once you are ordering the product. Amazon payment is simply the system that takes your money and gives it to the seller.

I've bought used items off Amazon before and by and large it's been a good experience - aslong as you take note of the sellers' ratings, you're not likely to encounter any major problems.

.

I would have thought it would be this one

It was published in 2001 whilst the one you are looking at was published in 1991........ wonder what advances have been made in AI in the last 15 years ? :)

lol.

That original book and the one you brought up are two of the books suggested by my lecturer. Amazon has a really poor search feature, the 1st book took me a while to find as I was searching for authors full name, the 2nd book - last time I checked was a 1995 edition. Oh well. Just finished ordering some books, some new some used, hopefully all will be well. Next time I get enough money I'll be getting that 2nd book :D - had I realised it was a newer edition I prob would have bought it over the other one. Ah well.
