Problem with signing up to some forums??
 

well im on ntl, i don't use proxys... but when i try to sign up on some forums i gett the error

Sorry we do not allow registrations from proxies.

also, have tried it on the pc that is connected directly to ntl, nothing in the way, help... :(

you do use proxies, all NTL connections do, it is just they are 'transparent' to the user, but obviously not to the hosts of the forums you mention. It can be sorted, but it means the forum admins need to alter the software which checks the IP, to 'see past' the proxy server to the 'real' IP.

sorry :( - if you click the 'connection' tab on the toolbar ^ , it will tell you which proxy you are on - as well as your 'true' IP.

and what if your not on a proxy whats it say??

my pc isnt setup for using proxy.. sneaky ntl

very occasionally (nowadays, anyway), NTL turn off the proxies in an area if they are playing up (Manchester used to be one area where this happened), but, in general, you can assume you are connecting through a proxy for all HTTP traffic on port 80

I signed up for broadband (ntl cable) in this area as soon as it became available, about a couple of years ago. Apart from a few days shortly after I got broadband, I haven't been on a proxy since.

Don't know why ntl haven't introduced proxies here, but I do thank them for it!

Tell the bleddy admins. They need to sort their forum out, they clearly don't know how most BB ISPs work.
