Broadband and NatWest internet banking
I recently joined NTL. When I try access my internet banking on NatWest, I get all the way through the login phase only to be shown a message on NatWest saying that I can not access the site as it is down. I phoned NatWest and they said it was not down. However, if I dial up using another machine (to a non NTL provider) and try, I get in without a problem. This happens every time, comparing the one to the other next to each other, at the same time.
Could this be an issue with NTL regards barring, or a proxy, etc? Steven |

i have never had a problem when i log into my online banking with Natwest, or Halifax using ntl BB

Again, I'd just change proxies - I have no problem here with the service. :)

but surely a bank would use SSL encryption
i thought https: (ssl) traffic didnt go though the proxys, for obvious reasons :erm: |

Not trying to drag up an old topic, but better than starting a new one I think, I want to use online banking so I can keep up to date tracks on my account.
Do you feel its safe to use n that?? Do I need to go into the branch to get it activated??? TIA |

It's perfectly safe. :)
I forget how exactly I got mine setup. Best thing to do is to give Natwest a call - or call into the local branch - and they'll send you all the details. I think I originally replied to a slip included with a statement, and then they sent the info through to me that I needed to access my account online. :) |

The only thing that had me worried was the T&C's which I found a bit confusing.
I wasn't sure if they were implying that if any of your money went missing through using this service, they are in no way required to refund you in any way. Is this correct?? I've signed up, and the activation No. is being sent in the post, not too sure if I should use it yet though. I doubt (rather hope) that I will never fall victim to a phishing scam, as I would never re-enter details, and regularily scan for keyloggers and such. |
