My Msn Messenger Won't Patch
 

Hiya all,

I am using the latest version of MSN Messenger of which is version.

7.5.0306, I have the latest Mess.Be patch for it, because I hate the standard GUI and like to refine it a bit.

However so far it will not patch anything, the patch lets me select options applys them, and when I reload MSN afterwards nothing has changed :confused: .

So far I have uninstalled, cleaned registry and all junk files off the pc, rebooted and scanned again, and re-installed, and re-applied to only get the same problem.

I am totally baffled and now stuck with a awful default Msn Messenger layout, which is slowing making me turn to another IM program which can handle MSN.

Lucky you. I have been trying to download that for 2 weeks now, and all I ever get is 'downloads.mess.be cannot be reached'. (In fact, the downloads site there has NEVER been very good in my experience.)

So can't help you, but I'd double check that the version for MSN and Mess.be are the same. If they're not it's likely it won't work and/or that it might cause MSN to do 'odd' things you won't like.

I find on the download link for the mess.be patch, that I have to disable my firewall to permit the download.

Anyways seeing as I have nothing to do until Friday here you go.

The above patch I have attempted to use with my Msn Messenger, I feel I am doing somethign wrong somewhere.

Ahhhah got it going, went back to the site and now there is a new mod for 7.5.0306, seems this version has a new generation patcher.

Downloaded that one and now I am fine.


(edit) updated the attached file to the updated patcher program which works with the current Msn Messenger on http://messenger.msn.com

Call me paranoid, but when I'm told I have to lower my computer's defences simply to download, I start thinking that maybe the patch isn't all I'd be downloading...

Thank you - I do like MSN so much better with the clutter removed.

The site is clean, it is there FTP afaik which causes the issue, I only lower until the download pops up then reload.

You shouldn't have to lower your firewall to enable FTP downloads. Try using Passive mode in your FTP client.

I do not have a ftp client Stuart, I just use ie6 :shrug:

hmm when was 306 rlsed and is it on the official site, the one I have is 303.

It will be on the MSN Messenger site and it was released not too long ago.
