can i stream with shoutcast
 

Hi there to all, i'm a newbie on this forum but i have been reading some of the posts for the past couple of nights.

my problem is that i'm trying to stream my dj mixes with shoutcast.....i have installed all the relevant shoutcast plugins to do this including the shoutcast server i've followed all the instructions from shoutcast forum on how to setup i've set my application rules in my firewall options for ports 8000 and 8001. the problem is my ip addy. i've been to whatsmyip.com to find my ip address but when i type in my browser http://myip:800/listen.pls the shoutcast server gives an error (nak). and cannot connect to shoutcast.com.
my internet connection is running through a router (wireless). cable modem connected to routers wan socket my pc connects to router via a wireless usb adapter. the make and model of my router is mentor WL-R4R11/UK.
There is only my pc using the router. i had to go wireless because the cable modem is downstairs and my pc is upstairs which was too high for the ntl engineer to put a cable through the window to connect downstairs.
i've been told i will not be able to stream because ntl have me behind a proxy server is this true...?
any help with this problem would really be appreciated. ;)

I use port 9000, you can get your IP from the top of the forums main page banner via connection.

@ Roy MM, thanks for the advice i will try port 9000. but do i still use port 8001 os do i use port 9001.

I only use :9000 after my IP numbers

i tried port 9000 without any luck, i even did port forwarding in my router to forward to port 9000. but i still get the same error.......:mad: also i changed the sc.serv config file to port 9000.

Check that the ip address is correct...could be picking up a proxy ip...look in the settings of your router to double check

All i see in the router setup is my internal ip for the pc and the gateway ip. there is one section in the settings that has me confused.....in the wan settings under dynamic ip there is an option to enter your ISP name if i leave it blank and save settings then go to whatsmyip.com my ip addy is a certain number, but if i go back into the wan settings- dynamic ip and i type ntl and save settings then go back to whatsmyip.com my ip addy has changed to a different one.......these routers and ip settings are so confusing me......roll on next year when i finish my pc engineering course and start my network engineering course....lol
both my courses are comptia certified are these certificates any good...?

Just get winamp plugin (jetcast) give your mates/friends your IP tell them to add :9000 at the end they will hear what you are broadcasting from your PC, PM me if your having any probs.

Well looks like jetcast has gone, nothing last night and there site gives "no data available" :(
