ntl tv box
I have NTL Digital TV and a separate NTL broadband connection - physically located far apart in my house. I recently noticed that the TV box also posessed USB and ethernet ports. Is it possible to use either of these to connect to the internet though the TV connection box rather than through the cable modem? - It would save a lot of physical cable!

I think you could have it changed to the STB but you'd have to give C/S a ring!

Re: ntl tv box
Hi and :welcome: yes you can change it with a simple call to cs but, i would rather move the modem myself ;)

Same here, Stand Alone Cable Modems (SACM) seem to be more reliable on the whole.

Re: ntl tv box
If you are in one half of NTL (Bromley - BBC1 on channel 1) then, yes, you can have your broadband access through your STB.
If you are in the other half (Langley - BBC on channel 101) then, no, you cannot have broadband through a STB and need a cable modem. |
Re: ntl tv box (broadband connections)
moved to ntl broadband

Re: ntl tv box (broadband connections)
It does depend on what service and what STB you have, wittyd00 - if you have one of the new silver Samsung boxes, you can get the 1, 2 or 3Mb service through it; if you have a black Pace box, you can only get 1Mb through it.
In some areas, it's _very_ difficult to get a Pace box replaced with a Samsung box: seems there's a serious shortage. |
