Telewest CM and Netgear dg834g prob
Hi all,
I am now scratching my head as I can't get my router/PC/CM to work together. I have looked at many articles and been in touch with Telewest(:Yikes:) but all to no avail. Setup ===== Telewest provided CM: Motoroola sB500i Broadband 1MB Router (Mine): Netgear DG834G PC OS: 2K Connection: Internet via telewest cable connected to Modem connected via ethernet to Router connected via ethernet PC Have connected PC to router and run ipconfig /renew Gives PC ip address 192.168.0.2. Then connect to router and set up router through menuwith following: no logon username <as supplied by telewest> domain <empty> Assign IP addresses on Entered values for DSN primary and secondary (as supplied by telewest) Entered MAC address of my PC Did not work ... so ... Turned all off then turned modem on (let it settle) .. then turned router on (waited a while) .... finallyturned PC on ... Still can't connect to Internet. Furstration crept in so tried all possible configurations in router (rememebering to boot each device up each time) ... still no joy. Can anyone help ... Desperately ..... Dave |

:welcome: to CF
Your problem is that your router is for ADSL not Cable Broadband :( http://www.netgear.com/products/details/DG834G.php A cable router has the hardware that allows it to get an IP address from the CM on it's 'WAN' port. Your router is designed to plug into the ADSL splitter and be useds as an ADSL modem. Sorry, but I hope you can take it back and get a Cable Broadband router, eg http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGT624.php |
