403 Error

On a website I am getting a 403 error. I have a Linksys router. Is there a way of chaning my router settings so the 403 error will not occur? Thanks

Which web site is it and are you trying to view the directory of it?

Nope, unless the site you are accessing is your own website. Basically, a 403 error means that you don't have sufficient permissions to view the website. This is a server-generated error and nothing you do as a client-side user (apart from signing-in with different credentials) will make any difference, I'm afraid.

Re: 403 Error

If its downloading a mp3 or something try right clicking and 'save as' with should solve it, Other that that Its what gareth said, the site has specified access level and you don't have the required level or they have turned of access to the directory of the site or your url is invalid.

I have had this error at times and as gareth says it is that you don't have enough permissions. But as to changing your credentials i can't see why this will help.
All i have ever needed to do is ensure my cookie settings are active and change settings within my firewall. As most firewall installed are to set to a format that thinks every website you enter is a potential threat

Sorry, it was meant as tongue-in-cheek :p:
