problems setting up an ftp
Its a few years since I last ran an ftp server from home. I need to set up another one.
I used bulletproof ftp server in the past so ive tried to use it again. I have set up a user account. Given that account certain access rights and added some directories. Each time the user attempts to connect he receives the following (ive taken out my ip by the way): SmartFTP v1.5.990.11 Resolving host name "ip" Connecting to ip Port: 625 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. Client closed the connection. Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)... Active Help: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/index.php/58 Continue to login attempt 2... When I watch bullet proof ftp server I dont see any connection attempts. Ive tried: changing the port changing the login details dropped my fire wall for some attempts Bullet proof ftp server shows two address's on the task bar. A local IP and a remote ip. Ive had the user try both of these but no luck. Im on ntl by the way. Any suggestions? Cheers |

Are you connecting via a router?

Re: problems setting up an ftp
Nope. I havent got a network either. Just a pc hooked up to a cable modem.
It works when I connect via local host using my ftp client. But doesnt when I use my ip. I dont know what could be blocking internet connections. With no firewalls running, I even ended norton antivirus just incase its autoprotect could be affecting it. Still no luck. Do NTL still allow customers to run ftp servers? I rember hearing a rumour a few years back that they were going to stop customers from running them. |
Re: problems setting up an ftp
Anybody? Can ntl customers still run ftp servers?
