Memory Question

I have a dell Poweredge 800 server that currently has 512mb in 2x256mb ddr2 modules.

Crucials website spec says it should be DDR2 PC2-4200 CL=4 UNBUFFERED ECC DDR2-533
and that it should be put in in 2x modules.

Ebuyer lists a few 256mb DDR2 modules particularly this one

Viking 256MB DDR2 533MHz PC2-4200 240pin Memory Module

Now will this work even though its not ECC?
Will I be able to use 1x 512mb or do I have to split it into 2 modules?

Many thanks

no. if the manual says it needs ECC memory, then i'm afraid it does! it's a bit more expensive, but not too bad.

I would stick with crucial, and I think EEC is essential, if I remember right.

what I mean is:
if your memory is Non ECC you should buy Non ECC
if it has ECC then buy ECC
