ntl netgusrd and msn

I would like to set netguard to scan files which I recieve off people on msn for viruses. I need to know which file to set on the msn settings to search the files.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Most AV tools will scan the files when you open them. If a virus is present they refuse to open the file or run the executable. Netguard scans the PC every 24 hours by default I think so the file will be scanned anyway but is there a reason why you need to scan them via MSN too?

Hi,

This is what I have set up in mine.

"C:\Program Files\ntl\ntl Netguard\Rps.exe"

I'm not sure if its correct though.

well, its not that important that it scans the file when I recieve a file from a friend but I just thought it would be more security for my pc to be honest.

thanks for all your help anyway, but if anyone has the correct file to have to scan it then that would be great. Thats if toto's file name isnt correct.

Rps.exe was the file I was thinking of but I can't find much documented proof to be totally sure that it's the right file.
Doubt if it will cause any harm if you try it though. Try looking in your services list in the admin tools if running XP, it might tell you there what it is. Or start a manual scan and check task manager to see what is active and hammering your CPU ;)

that file seems to just open netguard, doesnt look like it scans it for viruses.

if this topic could just remain on the board to see if anyone can come up with the aswswer to this question then that would be great as im sure quite a few people would find this answer very helpful.

cheers

Paul

Rps.exe is the process file running as the netguard monitoring agent.
