Ping

Hi all...

Been looking on this forum for a long time, very interesting reading.

But i have registered today as i'm a bit narked:mad:

What is the point of all this talk from NTL about 10,25 and 50 mb downloads:rolleyes: when they cannot seem to get a stable ping rate:rolleyes:

my ping bounces all over the place on online gaming from 26 to 160 resulting in me being a good player one moment and then 2 secs later bashing the ****e outta my keyboard cos the pings gone way over 100 and i'm lagging:mad:

Oh for a low stable ping....thats all i ask:rolleyes:

Have you contacted ntl about this?

Have a read of this for the sort of info the ntl people here find useful when someone wants help :)

Re: Ping

Yes i had an NTL engineer out for this and a fault on the digital tv service,he said my gain was too high(it was at 10)which was possibly sending my ping all over the place,he turned it down to 5,which temporarly fixed the problem and my ping wandered only from 26 to 40 so was quite stable, but recently its all over the shop again, making my online gaming impossible.

I have done quite a few speed tests and some whitin a couple of seconds of each other and the results varied all the time by quite some margin

Time to get an engineer booked again then.

Re: Ping

Damn i was hoping it was because NTL are upgrading their service for this 10mb upgrade and this was causing the problem,as the engineer didn't seem to have a further answer to my problem beside the gain

Re: Ping

This happens to me, but I thought it was dependent on the server that you connect to, like how many people are connected to the server and if they've got a really s***e ping then it brings the server down even more.

I could be wrong I guess!

Dan.

Re: Ping

Yeah sometimes its due to the server or the people on it,but my ping just used to raise a bit...say 60 ping but it stayed at that...now my ping is all over the place on a good server with everyone else on low pings:confused:
